Matt Rees is a worship leader, musician, songwriter, husband and father. His songs reflect his passion for the power of the scriptures and his personal encounters with the cross of Christ. He especially loves to write songs that make his wife cry. Matt loves to play small shows and worship events around his home base of Metro Detroit, Michigan.
Matt is a frequent collaborator and co-writer, playing and writing for longtime friend Grande Baliad and MDCC Worship. He has recently joined up with the independent songwriters of Lake City Lights and loves to strengthen and support other talented songwriters.
His musical tastes range from folk to soul to alt rock. He is self-described as "motown emo," but with a strong Christian worship focus.
In 2024, Matt put out his first solo project, Redeemer EP, with producer Jacob Rye (Ghost Kingdoms, Lo Cloud). His latest singles, Chariots and Driving were released in Spring of 2025.
